We continued our way down to Charlottesville, VA where Mark was born and lived till he was 5. Also the hometown of Thomas Jefferson.
Our first stop was Mark's first home. He was actually born in this house! His dad was teaching Spanish at the University of Virginia. The homes in this neighborhood are owned by the university and housed by the professors working there. Mark hadn't been back here since he was little. It was fun to see the home and show it to our girls.

| A little while after he was born, the family moved to this house until they moved. |

| Birth order. Mark and his siblings have a picture like this in the exact same spot. |

Then we headed to the outskirts of town to visit Monticello.
 |
| We first stopped at Michie's Tavern to taste some food from the time period of Thomas Jefferson. |
We toured the grounds and garden before our tour of the house. This visit was a first for all of us so it was fun to discover it together. Coming to Thomas Jefferson's home went right along with the rest of our 'American History' trip.

Thomas Jefferson was a farmer and his land and gardens were expansive and beautiful. We could all see why he like it here so much.

From here we headed home and closed the chapter of our wonderful and historical trip up the northeast coast.
