Friday night we went to see one of the Monterrey soccer teams: los Tigres (for the language impaired, that means the Tigres). They played an exhibition game with a team from Spain, Atletico de Madrid (they're from Madrid), so we assumed they would get destroyed (and we didn't care, really - it was all about the experience). During the first half, we were reminded that we have the same issue with soccer that we have with hockey, baseball, golf, the Detroit Pistons, and every time Mark goes bowling . . . there's no scoring!! The half ended with a 0-0 tie. Even so, the ambiance was quite nice: half the crowd was smoking. The Tigres are owned by Cemex (where Mark works) so we decided to stick it out for the second half. Then it got more exciting . . . they scored! 4 times in fact. It ended with a 2-2 tie. We thought they were going to have a penalty kick shoot-out at the end, but to no avail. All joking aside, it was muy divertido (that means fun).

Oh Im so jealous!! My dad would NEVER let me go to a soccer game in Mexico anytime we visited my grandparents when I was a kid. He always said it was too violent. Im glad you guys had a chance to have that experience, and Mark... good decision on not wearing your USA jersey to that game, I dont know how the local crowd would have reacted to that one. ;)
How awesome! I got to go to a world cup game one time. It was Brasil and ...hmmmm? I can't remember now, besides the stadium was filled with mostly Brasilians. Anyway, I experienced a similar experience as you. You just gotta love it though because in the end the whole game and just getting out is the memory you have. Are you guys getting tons of rain since Dolly is coming your way? You are more inland but let me know. Cute pics.
